A woman has poisoned her stepdaughter to death on the day of her wedding in a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa village, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to the details, the bride, Naila, was given poison by her stepmother at their home as the groom led his wedding procession into the house in a Lower Dil village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. But the bride, attired in the red wedding dress, breathed her last as soon as the wedding party reached back at the groom’s home.

A case has been registered against the stepmother after a medical examination revealed that the girl was given poison, the TV channel said.

Naila, daughter of Sherbaz Khan, was given poison just before the wedding party was to leave the bride’s home.

The victim's family has not yet contacted the police, police sources claimed. Cops from Lal Qila Police Station and Samarbagh Police Station have reached the spot and shifted the dead body to a hospital for post-mortem.

As per locals, Naila’s real mother has been divorced by her father.
