Eddie Benjamin calls Justin Bieber ‘soulmate’ in emotional tribute

Australian singer-songwriter Eddie Benjamin has opened up about his close friendship with Justin Bieber, revealing he co-created more than half of the pop icon’s surprise album Swag.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the 23-year-old Sydney native referred to Bieber as his “soulmate” and “bestie,” sharing that he contributed to 11 of the album’s 21 tracks. “Made an album with my bestie. My love for this being is so deep,” wrote Eddie, alongside a carousel of behind-the-scenes clips and recent snaps of the duo.

The post followed reports that Swag was delivered ‘chaotically’ to streaming platforms just hours before its release, so abruptly that song credits were left incomplete.

“This experience has been my favourite musical experience I’ve had – making some soulmates along the way. The swag is beyond real,” Eddie added.

Their collaboration reportedly began just weeks ago during a mountain retreat with friends, raising eyebrows over the album's rapid production timeline. While music insiders criticised the unconventional release, fans have celebrated the raw and experimental nature of the record, which includes songs like Dadz Love, Therapy Session, and Devotion.

Bieber, 31, has been under public scrutiny amid concerns about his mental health, marital tensions, and social media silence. His last full-length album, Justice, was released in 2021.

Despite the buzz, Swag might not be the only release this year – sources suggest a second album could drop within weeks.

Eddie Benjamin, who has previously worked with Meghan Trainor, Shawn Mendes, and Earth, Wind & Fire, has grown increasingly close to Bieber, often seen accompanying him at events. His emotional tribute is the latest sign of their powerful creative bond – and one that’s driving Bieber’s most unexpected musical era.
