KP CM Gandapur reaches Kharian on way to Lahore
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur, who had left KP House in Islamabad for Lahore a few hours ago, is on his way along with other party leaders, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and party stalwart Salman Akram Raja, accompanying the chief minister, said they were going to the Punjab capital to hold meetings in connection with the Senate elections.
Barrister Gohar stressed the need for unity so that democracy could be strengthened in the country.
KP CM reaches Kharian
KP CM, who is presently heading towards Lahore along with other PTI leaders, has reached Kharian.
A heavy contingent of police has reached the GT Road to prevent the local PTI workers from welcoming the party’s caravan.
Fearing arrests, the party’s local leadership has gone into hiding.
Earlier, the PTI workers showered rose petals on the vehicles, part of Gandapur’s entourage, and other party leaders to Lahore.
Later, the police swung into action and took two workers into custody while others managed to escape.
During his stay in the provincial capital, the chief minister would meet with the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, besides holding meetings with the members of the provincial assembly (MPAs) belonging to the PTI.
He will also attend a dinner to be hosted in his honour, sources said, adding Gandapur would also hold an important press conference tomorrow, on Sunday.
