River Indus in medium flood at Chashma following heavy rains

The River Indus is in medium flood at Chashma while in low flood at Tarbela, Taunsa and Kalabagh due to torrential monsoon rains, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General (DG), water levels rose significantly in the streams and nullahs of Rajanpur following heavy rains in Koh-e-Suleman Range.

The DG has informed that the third spell of monsoon rains in Punjab will continue until July 17, resulting in an extraordinary rise in water levels in rivers, nullahs, and streams of the province.

On the other hand, Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed has directed the Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan administrations to remain on their toes; ensure the evacuation of people and their cattle living in the vicinity of rivers and also make sure that food items, drinking water and other facilities were provided to the people taking shelter in flood relief camps.
