IPP-backed Muhammad Dilpazir wins GBLA-15 Diamer re-poll

The re-poll in Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly constituency GBLA-15 Diamer has concluded with Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP)-backed independent candidate Muhammad Dilpazir winning the seat after securing 6,033 votes, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

The re-poll was held at the Thak Loshi Family Polling Station following the re-polling ordered by the Supreme Appellate Court, following re-polling ordered by the Supreme Appellate Court, where Dilpazir received 114 votes, taking his overall tally to 6,033 votes.

Election authorities have also issued his Form-49, confirming his victory.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidate Mufti Wali-ur-Rehman finished second with 4,639 votes, while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Bashir Ahmed secured 4,109 votes.

With Dilpazir's victory, the IPP's strength in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly has increased to seven seats, making it the third-largest parliamentary party in the house and a coalition partner in the regional government.

Congratulating the winning candidate, IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan said the election result reflected the people's confidence in the party and its vision, describing the victory as a significant milestone for the IPP in Gilgit-Baltistan.
