Prolonged power cuts have been adding to heat-hit people’s woes across the country, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Sunday.

The urban areas are experiencing eight hours without electricity while the rural areas are witnessing 16-hour power cuts. People have been making a litany of complaints but their voices have been falling on a deaf ear.

In Karachi, heat-hit people have been bearing with up to 18-hour electricity outages. In Lahore, the 550-MW shortfall left the people in the lurch while no respite from scorching heat is in sight.

Officials admitted that the urban consumers have been facing up to six hours of load-shedding and the rural areas have been experiencing eight hours without electricity.

Reports from Faisalabad said 20 feeders have been shut down, and most of the areas have been bearing with 17 hours sans power.

In KP, the people have been made to face eight-hour load-shedding in urban areas and the rural areas are experiencing 16 hours without electricity. The substitution in Baluchistan is no different.

The government of PM Shehbaz Sharif claimed that it would put an end to the power shortfall problem after coming to power following the ouster of the PTI govt. The government of Shehbaz Sharif announced continuing load shedding of electricity up to 50 percent only.
