Federal budget allocates billions for schools, healthcare and power projects in Azad Kashmir
Rs1 billion earmarked for power network upgrade; major allocations made for Danish Schools and hospital facilities
The federal government has announced a series of development initiatives for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) in the Budget 2026-27, allocating billions of rupees for education, healthcare and infrastructure projects aimed at improving public services in the region.
According to budget documents, the government has earmarked Rs1 billion for the improvement and expansion of the electricity supply network in Azad Kashmir during the next fiscal year. The allocation is intended to strengthen the region's power infrastructure and improve electricity distribution for consumers.
The budget also includes substantial funding for the establishment and development of Danish Schools in various districts of Azad Kashmir.
An allocation of Rs1.108 billion has been made for Danish School Haveli, while Rs514.5 million has been earmarked for Danish School Hari Gehal.
Similarly, the government has allocated Rs599.8 million for Danish School Bhimber and Rs1.558 billion for Danish School Sharda, reflecting a major investment in expanding educational opportunities and improving access to quality schooling in the region.
In the health sector, the federal government has allocated Rs944.5 million for the provision of CT scan and MRI machines at district headquarters hospitals and teaching hospitals across Azad Kashmir.
Officials said the healthcare initiative would help strengthen diagnostic facilities, improve access to advanced medical services and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the region for specialized tests and treatment.
The allocations form part of the federal government's broader development programme for Azad Kashmir and are aimed at improving education, healthcare and public infrastructure while addressing the needs of local communities.
The development package is expected to contribute to better public services, enhanced healthcare facilities and expanded educational opportunities for residents of Azad Kashmir in the coming years.
