CII expresses reservations over Zainab Alert Bill
Qibla Ayaz, the head of the Council of Islamic Ideological (CII), on Thursday said that they had some objections over the Zainab Alert, Response and Recovery Bill, which has been passed by the Parliament.
The renowned religious scholar said that the death penalty for the culprits should remain intact; however, some other points needed rethinking. He said, for example, the legislation should not be named after Zainab as it may create problems for her family.
He said they had decided to prepare a detailed report on the issue in the backdrop of the recently-held Aurat March.
Ayaz suggested that special police stations and courts should be established to tackle the sex offenders.
Talking about the coronavirus, he said the people must take precautionary measures to stop the spread of the pandemic.
