Visiting Australia have made a solid start in their first innings on the first day of second Test against Pakistan being played at the National Cricket in Karachi on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The visitors have scored 100 runs by losing two wickets at lunch. Unbeaten batters on the crease were Usman Khawaja on 52 and Steven Smith on seven.

The Australians were off to a very good start but lost two quick wickets within a space of 18 runs.

For Pakistan, Faheem Ashraf had David Warner caught behind after he scored 36 while Marnus Labuschagne was run out without scoring.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Aussie captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to send his batters first, hoping for a good outcome of the match.”

He also disclosed that Mitchell Swepson has made his way into the team.

Speaking on the occasion, Cummins said "Looks like a really good wicket. Mitch has been around the squad for many years now. We're pumped for him. Our job now is to bat big."
On his party, Pakistani captain Babar Azad said they have made two changes in the team. "Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali are in to replace Ifthikhar Ahmed and Naseem Shah," he added.

The visitors dropped fast bowler Josh Hazlewood from the first Test line up and handed a debut to leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson to bolster their spin attack.

Pakistan brought back frontline paceman Hasan Ali and allrounder Faheem Ashraf -- who both missed the first Test due to injuries -- replacing Iftikhar Ahmed and Naseem Shah.

The first Test ended in a tame draw in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Australia are on their first tour of Pakistan since 1998, having previously refused to visit over security fears.

The third and final Test is in Lahore from March 21-25.
