10,000MW cheap electricity to be added in national grid by 2030

After a major development in electricity generation from wind-powered projects and construction of new dams, as many as 10,000 megawatts will be added to the national grid by 2030, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has announced that it will include10,000MW cheap electricity to Pakistan’s national grid. 

According to Wapda sources, the production capacity of hydropower will be 20,000MW by 2030.  

Currently, Diamar Bhasha, Dasu, and Mohmand dams are under construction and the completion of dams will result in a 1.2 million-acre-foot increase in the water storage. 

Moreover, the fifth expansion project of Tarbela Dam, Nai Gaj Dam, Kurram Tangi Dam, Kachhi Canal, and K-IV projects are also under way.
