Karachi Kings defeat Lahore Qalandars by 86 runs

Karachi Kings beat Lahore Qalandars by 86 runs in the 30th match of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) eighth edition played at Qadhafi Stadium here on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Karachi bowlers Muhammad Umar, Imran Tahir, Akif Javed, and Imad Waseem ran through the Qalandars. They all claimed two-wicket each and got another victory for their team.     

Hussain Talat of Lahore could offer some resistance to Karachi’s spinner trio as he made 25 only in the total 110.    

Earlier, Karachi Kings set a 197-run target for Lahore Qalandars  

The guest side posted 196 after losing seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with the help of Muhammad Akhlaq, Imad Waseem and Tayyab Tahir who made 51, 45, and 40 respectively. 

Akhlaq and Tayyab’s 70-run partnership helped their team produce a respectable total against the defending champions.

Muhammad Akhlaq was dismissed by Haris Rauf after scoring 51 runs whereas Hussain Talat got the wicket of Tayyab Tahir, after he had scored 40 runs.

Karachi Kings’s captain Imad Wasim stepped up once again and scored 45 runs off 31 balls as they reached 196 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.

Qalandars bowlers Zaman Khan, Haris Rauf and Hussain Talat took two wicket each.  

Earlier, Karachi Kings won the toss and decided to bat against Lahore Qalandars. 

David Wiese is leading Lahore Qalandars as Shaheen Afridi is rested. 

It is to be noted here that Lahore Qalandars have played nine matches in PSL 8 so far, and they remained victorious in seven of them.

They are the table-toppers on the PSL points table with 14 points.

On the other hand, Karachi Kings too have played nine matches in PSL 8 so far, and they remained victorious in only two of them.

Wicket-keeper batsman Muhammad Akhlaq is making his debut for Karachi Kings.
