IMF mission arriving in Islamabad today to hold talks with Finance team

International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission is arriving in Islamabad on Tuesday night to hold talks with Pakistan’s Finance team. The bilateral negotiations between Finance Ministry and IMF official will be held during March 14 to 18, reported 24newsHD TV channel.
Meanwhile, newly-appointed Finance Minister Aurangzeb chaired a meeting of Finance Ministry’s top officials to discuss IFM’s mission review programme. It is pertinent to mention that the interim government has achieved nearly all of the targets set by the IMF during the second review for Pakistan to obtain the last $1.1 billion payment. The Ministry of Finance confirmed that 25 of the 26 financial targets set by the IMF for the second economic review were met.
With the current IMF loan accord coming to an end, Pakistan’s new Finance Minister will also hold talks with IMF mission on new loan agreement worth $6 billion.
