Akshay Kumar haunts Bhoot Bangla in Bhool Bhulaiyaa-style horror-comedy
Akshay Kumar brings his signature horror-comedy magic to Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla, and the teaser is giving all the Bhool Bhulaiyaa vibes.
The teaser for their upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla dropped on Thursday, instantly reminding audiences of their iconic 2007 hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The 1-minute-23-second teaser showcases Akshay’s signature comic timing as he navigates a haunted mansion, promising laughs alongside thrills.
Bhooth Bangla opens with the legend of Vadhusur of Mangalpur, a ghostly entity that allegedly punishes anyone daring to marry in his haunted palace. Akshay Kumar’s character unexpectedly inherits the sprawling mansion, setting the stage for comic chaos.
Despite his initial skepticism, the teaser hints at ghostly encounters that will challenge his beliefs.
The teaser also features a stellar ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, Mithila Palkar, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajesh Sharma, and the late Asrani. Fans immediately drew parallels to Bhool Bhulaiyaa, praising Akshay’s comic flair and the nostalgic Priyadarshan Akshay combination.

Priyadarshan and Akshay’s collaboration has previously produced hits like Hera Pheri (2000), Garam Masala (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006), De Dana Dan (2009), and Khatta Meetha (2010). After skipping Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3, the duo is now back together to deliver the laughs and thrills fans love.
The film is slated for a theatrical release on April 10, 2026. The story is written by Aakash Kaushik, with the screenplay by Priyadarshan, Rohan Shankar, and Abilash Nair. Dialogues are by Rohan Shankar, and music is composed by Pritam.
In addition to Bhooth Bangla, Priyadarshan is also directing Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in Haiwaan, a thriller remake of the 2016 Malayalam hit Oppam, alongside Saiyami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar.
