Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell opens up about incurable cancer battle

Veteran Hollywood actor Bruce Campbell has revealed that he has been diagnosed with a form of cancer that doctors say is treatable but not curable, prompting the beloved horror star to scale back his professional commitments.

The 67 yearn old actor, widely recognised for his iconic role as Ash Williams in the cult horror franchise The Evil Dead, shared the news with fans through a candid message on social media.

Campbell explained that he decided to speak openly about his diagnosis to prevent rumours or speculation about changes to his public schedule.

While confirming the illness, the actor chose not to reveal the specific type of cancer, saying he prefers to keep further medical details private.

However, he reassured fans that the condition is manageable with treatment and that he remains optimistic about continuing his work in the industry.

Campbell said the diagnosis has forced him to cancel several public appearances and fan conventions this year so he can focus on treatment and recovery.

Despite the setback, he expressed hope that he will regain strength in the coming months.

The actor revealed that he aims to return to promotional activities later this year for his upcoming independent film Ernie & Emma, a romantic comedy that he wrote, directed and starred in.

Born in Michigan, Campbell rose to international fame in 1981 with director Sam Raimi’s horror classic The Evil Dead, which later expanded into sequels, television projects and video games.

Over the decades, he became one of the most recognisable figures in cult horror cinema.

Throughout his career, Campbell has appeared in more than 170 film and television projects and frequently collaborated with Raimi, including memorable cameo roles in the Spider-Man trilogy.
