National Assembly members visit NDMA Headquarters, receive briefing on monsoon preparedness

Members of the National Assembly of Pakistan visited the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Thursday, where they were briefed on disaster preparedness and risk management measures.

During the visit, Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik gave a detailed briefing to the delegation at the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) regarding advance planning and the awareness system for the upcoming Monsoon 2026 season.

Officials also briefed the delegation on the technical capabilities and operational capacity of the National Emergencies Operation Center, which monitors and coordinates responses to emergencies and natural disasters.

The delegation was informed about “Disaster Risk Outlook 2026,” highlighting potential risks facing Pakistan and other countries. A research report outlining additional risks, including the growing challenge of water scarcity due to climate change, was also presented.

NDMA officials further presented a detailed review of the NDMA mobile application and the authority’s early warning and public awareness systems designed to provide timely information during emergencies.

According to the briefing, NDMA is using modern analytical models and tools to enhance national-level disaster preparedness and early warning mechanisms. The authority is also sharing relevant information on potential disasters and risks with friendly countries.

Members of the National Assembly appreciated NDMA’s modern and integrated system for disaster management and called for continued efforts to mitigate risks and effectively respond to natural disasters.
