May 9 GHQ attack case: Major Tahir Sadiq not allowed to travel abroad

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Monday rejected the request of Major (R) Tahir Sadiq to travel abroad.

Major Tahir is facing a case in connection with the GHQ attack case of May 9.

Public prosecutor Zaheer Shah said that Major Tahir Sadiq had left the country without facing formal charges and returned four months later than the permitted time.

The prosecutor argued that the court had earlier cancelled his bail, and strict action was taken due to this delay. He urged the court not to allow him to leave the country again.

During the hearing in the Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi, the court accepted the prosecutor’s request and denied travel permission to Major Tahir Sadiq.

Judge Amjad Ali Shah announced the decision after hearing arguments from both sides.

The suspect is involved in carrying Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) flags, caps and petrol bombs.
