Pakistan seeks peace but won’t tolerate sovereignty violations: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace in South Asia while making it clear that the country will never compromise on its sovereignty or territorial integrity.

Speaking during a meeting with the Ambassador of Turkiye, Irfan Neziroglu, who called on him in Islamabad, the prime minister said Pakistan’s agreement to the recent ceasefire understanding with India was made in the spirit of regional peace, but warned that any violation of national sovereignty would be met with a firm response.

The premier expressed deep gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his unwavering support during the recent crisis, calling it a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship between the two nations.

"President Erdogan’s steadfast support once again demonstrated his affection for the people of Pakistan," the prime minister said, also acknowledging the solidarity shown by the Turkish people during what he described as a "challenging time" for Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also paid glowing tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces, crediting them for the successful execution of Operation Bunyan un Marsoos, which he said crushed the enemy’s hostile designs.

On bilateral matters, the prime minister voiced satisfaction over the fast-paced momentum in Pakistan-Turkiye relations, following Erdogan’s visit to Islamabad in February and his own trip to Ankara in April. He proposed the early convening of the Joint Commission of Foreign Ministers to ensure timely implementation of decisions made during recent high-level talks.

Ambassador Neziroglu congratulated Pakistan on its military and diplomatic successes, and reaffirmed President Erdogan’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties across all sectors.
