Another Cambridge AS Level Mathematics paper leaked ahead of examination, IBCC confirms

Another paper of Cambridge International Education was allegedly leaked before the scheduled examination, as the second AS Level Mathematics paper was reportedly circulated on social media ahead of Tuesday’s exam, according to students and education officials.

Dozens of students reported that the AS Level Mathematics paper with code number 9709/5, scheduled to begin at 2pm, had already been solved and shared online before the examination started.

Students said they were shocked upon entering the examination hall and discovering that the paper they received was identical to the one circulating on social media earlier in the day.

“We saw the solved paper online before the exam, and when we appeared for the test, it turned out to be the same paper,” several students claimed.

Executive Director of the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, confirmed that the second Mathematics paper had also been leaked.

Speaking on the matter, Dr. Mallah said the IBCC was awaiting Cambridge’s official position regarding the latest incident. However, he added that Cambridge had initially acknowledged the paper leak.

“It is a sad matter that Cambridge papers are continuously leaking, and Cambridge has so far failed to stop these incidents,” he said.

The latest controversy comes weeks after Cambridge confirmed that the AS Level Mathematics paper 9709/12, conducted on April 29, 2026 in Administrative Zones 3 and 4, had also been distributed without authorisation before the examination.

In an earlier statement, Cambridge International Education said a detailed investigation had concluded that the nature of the leak was significant enough to compromise the integrity of the examination.

The examination body had announced that the leaked paper would no longer be used in determining students’ final grades and that affected candidates would instead appear in a replacement examination.

According to Cambridge, the replacement examination for Mathematics 9709/12 is scheduled to be held on June 9, 2026 under the June series examination schedule.

The repeated incidents have raised serious concerns among students, parents and education experts regarding examination security and the credibility of the assessment process. Calls are growing for stricter safeguards and accountability measures to prevent future paper leaks.
