Pakistan, China underline need to maintain normal traffic in Strait of Hormuz

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday held a telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss the regional situation and matters of mutual interest, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson.

During the conversation, the two leaders held detailed discussions on the evolving regional situation, including Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States. The Chinese foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and expressed full support for Islamabad’s mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting dialogue.

Both sides agreed on the need for continued efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining normal maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz amid regional developments.

The discussion also covered activities planned to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, as well as high-level exchanges between the two countries.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, both leaders agreed to maintain close communication on all issues of mutual interest.
