The three-day annual Urs celebrations of the 460th death anniversary of Hazrat Sayed Muhammad Shah Almaroof Hazrat Baba Mauj Darya Bukhari (RA) began on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Punjab Auqaf Director Administration Muhammad Akbar inaugurated the urs celebrations while performing traditional Chadars on the grave of the saint. A large number of visitors from all over Punjab will visit the shrine.

The Auqaf officials and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion. They also offered special Dua for the progress, development, and stability of the country.

Spiritual Mahafil will continue during urs days which will conclude on Monday. Police have made foolproof security arrangements for the visitors.

It is pertinent that Syed Hazrat Meeran Mauj Darya Bukhari was a pir, a religious person during Mughal Emperor Akbar’s time. The legend goes that it was Mauj Darya who told the emperor about the windstorm that would help him seize the Chittorgarh Forts from the Rajputs. Another story also says that Mauj Darya turned back the waters of Ravi, thus preventing the river from flooding. That’s how he earned the reputation of being a protector.
