MDCAT to be held on Nov 13 across Pakistan

The Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) for medical students will be held on November 13 (tomorrow) across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

More than 204,000 medical aspirants are participating in the MDCAT exams across the country including northern areas and Azad Jammu Kashmir.   

Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel said that all arrangements have been made to ensure the security of the examinations.

Security officials of the four provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad police will be deployed for the security of the centres, he added. 

At least 21188 candidates from Islamabad are appearing in this exam this year. These include 14656 female students and 6532 male students who will appear in the entry test. 

The MDCAT exam conducting responsibility has been given to the public sector medical universities of the provinces keeping in mind the accountability, transparency, merit, and syllabus of the provinces. 

Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University is conducting the MCAT for students of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad. 

The examination centres have been established for the candidates at Barani Agricultural University and Allama Iqbal Open University. 

Abdul Qadir Patel said that as many as 18 educational institutions of the Federal Education Directorate have also been nominated as examination centres.

The number of students appearing in international centres is 462 while most of the MDCAT students are internationally based in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, Abdul Qadir Patel said, adding that students in foreign countries will be given the exam on the same day and time. 

Federal medical universities will monitor the exams themselves, he added. The government will prove that medical education, research and profession are being given the highest importance, he hinted. 

The ministry also requested all those aspirants who still have not downloaded their roll number slips to visit the websites of the exam-conducting university according to their selected centers to download the slip.
