Dry-fruits prices rise steeply in the beginning of winter season

As the winter season begins, prices of dry fruits shoot up eventually as chalghoza was sold at Rs14500 per kilogram in the market, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Moreover, shelled almonds were sold at Rs1400 per kg, walnuts at Rs1000 per kg while sugi was sold at Rs1200 per kg, and almond giri at Rs3100 per kg.

Whereas mixed dry fruits were sold at Rs2400, apricots sold for Rs1400.

The purchasing power of the citizens is affected by the price hike and dry fruit markets were seemed deserted due to high prices.

A shopkeeper said that prices increased due to stoppage of exports shopkeepers are forced to sell goods at high prices.

Citizens said that prices of things have doubled compared to last year adding “earlier, if 10 people used to give dry fruit as a gift, now only two can do this”.
