The social media forums will be required to open their permanent offices in six months and they will appoint a compliance officer and a grievance officer in 3 months.
The grievances officer will be bound to resolve the issue within 7 days of the complaint being registered and social media companies will issue online complaint mechanisms and community guidelines.
Social media companies will be fined up to Rs500 million for violating the rules and they will be required to abide by the local laws. The grievance registration mechanism and form are also included in the rules.
