Usman Faruqui, former chairman of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) and father of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and member Sindh Assembly (MPA) Sharmila Faruqui, died in Karachi in the early hours of Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Usman Faruqui’s family members have confirmed his death.

His daughter Sharmila took to Twitter to announce the death of her father.

According to Sharmila, the funeral prayers for her father will be offered at Rehmania Mosque, Tariq Road after Asr prayers today. 

Meanwhile, former president and Pakistan Peoples Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has expressed his condolences over the death of former chairman of PSM Usman Farooqui.

In his condolence messages to Sharmila Faruqui, daughter of the deceased, and Salman Faruqui, deceased’s brother, he prayed to the Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
