The Islamabad High Court has sought a report from the interior secretary on a case pertaining to issuance of National Identity Card to MQM founder Altaf Hussain, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard the petition submitted by MQM founder Altaf Hussain seeking issuance of his National Identity Card by NADRA.

The court expressed its exasperation when the officials from interior and foreign ministries did not appear before it. The court directed them to appear within half an hour.

Later, the officials of both the ministries appeared before the court.

The interior ministry official told the court that an anti-terrorism court had ordered to block the Identity Card and passport of Altaf Hussain.

Justice Kiyani remarked that the civil rights and criminal cases were two different things.

He directed the interior secretary to submit a report after having consultation with the foreign ministry.
