Ishaq Dar highlights Pakistan’s role in promoting blue economy

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan can play a crucial role in promoting blue economy and the government is taking steps for promotion of the sector, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Ishaq Dar stated this while addressing the International Maritime Sustainability Exhibition and Conference in Islamabad on Thursday.

The deputy prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to environmental sustainability, being one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change. He highlighted the initiatives for modernizing the Fisheries and Shipbreaking Sector with advanced technology and practices.

Dar said Pakistan’s Port Sector offers significant investment opportunities with several terminals operated by international groups. He said the government is transforming country’s ports into centres of regional and international trade.

Ishaq Dar said the government is taking steps to align the fishing sector with modern requirements and maritime conference is very important.
