Pakistan pledges to promote ties with US

Saudi, UAE leaders also congratulate Shehbaz Sharif

The newly-installed government hailed the US reaffirmation of historic ties with Pakistan ensuring to constructively and positively engage with the US to promote shared goals of peace, security and development in the region, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The PM Office uploaded a tweet on Wednesday saying: “We have noted the comments made by the WhiteHouse on assumption of office by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. We welcome US reaffirmation of long-standing ties with Pakistan.”

Arab leaders congrat PM Shehbaz 

Separately, Leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as well as the Palestinian president congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on becoming new prime minister of Pakistan.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman sent a cable of congratulations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the occasion of his taking oath of office.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, also sent a message of congratulations to Shehbaz Sharif on his assumption of prime minister office.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, sent similar messages to the Pakistani Prime Minister on the occasion.
