Senate, NA panels reject bill to provide funds for elections in Punjab

The Standing Committees on Finance of Senate and National Assembly on Thursday rejected the bill pertaining to provision of funds to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for holding elections in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Money Bill 2023 was unanimously rejected in both the committees.
“The ECP should not release a single rupee for elections in Punjab. We think all these things are planted,” Barjees Tahir said.
“We had demanded Rs21 billion from the Ministry of Finance. A report in this regard has to be submitted to the Supreme Court,” said the ECP secretary.
