Pakistan’s air traffic controllers earn global recognition for excellence during regional crisis

Pakistan’s air traffic control services have received international recognition for their outstanding performance during recent developments in the Middle East, with the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations (IFATCA) congratulating the country’s defence leadership.

In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Defence, the Federation’s Executive Vice President for Asia Pacific, Cheri Chin, praised Pakistani Air Traffic Control Officers (ATCOs) for maintaining exceptional standards amid a challenging regional environment.

The letter acknowledged the “high standards of performance” demonstrated by Pakistani ATCOs during a period of heightened activity affecting regional airspace due to the Middle East conflict. It noted that their professionalism ensured the continued safety and efficiency of international flight operations.

Cheri Chin highlighted that Pakistani controllers played a crucial role in facilitating the safe passage of aircraft through vital air corridors connecting Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Despite extended duties and continuous operations, the ATCOs upheld global aviation safety through their commitment and expertise.

The Federation also commended the Ministry of Defence for its ongoing support, stating that such backing has been instrumental in enabling air traffic controllers to perform at an exceptional level.
