Punjab Assembly resolution lauds PM Shehbaz, COAS Asim Munir for global diplomatic efforts

A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly appreciating the diplomatic efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir for their role on the global stage.

The resolution was moved by PML-N MPA Uzma Kardar, highlighting what it described as Pakistan’s significant contribution to reducing tensions in the Middle East.

According to the text, the combined efforts of Shehbaz Sharif, Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar helped avert the threat of a global catastrophe, including the possibility of a nuclear conflict. It stated that without Pakistan’s peace initiatives, innocent lives could have been lost and the global economy severely impacted.

The resolution credited Pakistan’s diplomacy for facilitating negotiations in Islamabad, leading to progress between the United States and Iran. It claimed that the international community is acknowledging Pakistan’s role in promoting peace, with organizations including the United Nations paying tribute to these efforts.

It further stated that the Muslim world is looking towards Pakistan with renewed hope, particularly regarding prospects of improved relations between Iran and the United States. The resolution also asserted that recent developments have enhanced Pakistan’s standing among countries such as the United Kingdom, European nations, and Canada.

Referring to the Islamabad talks held on April 10, the resolution termed them historically significant and proposed that Shehbaz Sharif and General Asim Munir be nominated for the Nobel Prize in recognition of their diplomatic contributions.

The resolution concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to continued efforts for a broader peace agreement involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, aimed at promoting global stability.
