Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed to end the election fraud through the introduction of electronic voting saying after the use of technology there will be minimal chances of rigging in the elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Prime Minister Khan was addressing a ceremony at National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Headquarters in Islamabad on Friday.

He said that the government will modernize the governance by introducing technology, digitalization and use of data. He was hopeful that by syncing the data and technology, his government would conduct elections, the results of which would be acceptable to all.

He said that the vote fraud through putting stamps, filling up ballot paper forms and registration of 100 votes for one household would come to an end with the launch of e-voting.

He said when the voting machines would be installed, the government would tally the ballots with NADRA data and reduce any chance of fraud. He was optimistic of holding a scientifically-authentic 21st century election after the government completed its tenure.

Prime Minister Khan also launched the alien identity card and work permit for foreigners to bring them into social mainstream who have been staying here for decades.

On this occasion, the premier said there were 3 million Afghan refugees living in Pakistan. But there are other aliens residing here but they are not registered with the government of Pakistan, he maintained adding that they become non-citizens if they don’t have any identity card.

He appreciated the NADRA efforts to launch the alien identity card saying in this way the aliens would be brought in the mainstream after getting themselves registered and obtaining the ID cards. He was of the view that they could also work in Pakistan, open bank accounts, deposit their money in the banks and become part of the social and financial mainstream. The alien ID cards would save them from doing illegal work in the country, he exhorted.

Prime Minister Khan inaugurated 66 new offices of NDRA today. He also launched new mobile applications for issuance of identity cards and work permits to foreigners and for verification of COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

He inaugurated 90 new mobile registration vans as outreach of NADRA offices is being expanded to Tehsil level.

The Prime Minister launched a mobile application COVID-19 Pass for verification of coronavirus vaccination certificate to allow immediate verification of the document by organizations or Pakistanis traveling within Pakistan and abroad.

He also inaugurated a latest NADRA system based on artificial intelligence to curb fake identity cards.
