Stage has been set, chairs have been placed while the roads leading to Lahore’s National Hockey Stadium have been decorated with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) flags as the party will hold its power show in the stadium today to celebrate the country’s 75th Independence Day, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan will address the event, which will begin at 7:00 in the evening, while party workers and supporters from across Punjab are expected to attend it.

Although, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Ataullah Tarar had moved the Lahore High Court (LHC) yesterday against the PTI’s public gathering at the hockey stadium, saying the ground that was meant for a particular sport, should not be used for political purposes, he did not succeed in getting the court orders to the PTI not to hold its function at the venue.

Tarar had pointed out that stadium’s astro-turf had also been ripped apart just because of the party’s gathering.

PTI’s act of holding a rally in the hockey stadium is a violation of Articles 3,5,9,16,24 and 24 of the constitution, the petitioner had argued.

Asad Umar asks people to attend rally in droves:

Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Asad Umar has appealed to masses to ‘attend the event and sing national anthem along with Imran Khan at 12:00 at midnight to welcome the Independence Day.

In a tweet, he said, “I urge Pakistanis, within the country as well as abroad, to become part of the celebrations.
