The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday disposed of the petition filed against an increase in private schools’ fees and ordered the District Registration Authority to decide on the plea within 21 days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Justice Khalid Ishaq heard the petition filed by Muhammad Ayub and others.

Speaking on the occasion, counsel for the petitioners said that private schools increased fees every year at will.

He further said that from a legal point of view, school administrations had the right to increase the fees only by five per cent every year. “However, on the contrary, recently, the school fees have been upped by 42 per cent,” he added.

The judge asked which department dealt with the school fees.

The lawyer replied that it was the District Registration Authority that listened to the complaints concerning the fees.

He informed that the deputy commissioner Lahore headed the District Registration Authority.
