Police arrest 15 prime suspects involved in Khanewal tragedy

Police Sunday arrested 15 prime suspects of Khanewal mob lynching incident that claimed a person’s life, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to Punjab police spokesperson, police arrested 15 suspects after identifying them through videos. Those who were nabbed included: Muhammad Kashif, Muhammad Riaz, Saqlain, Muhammad Shan, Asif, Nadeem, Qaisar Nazeer, Abdul Ghani, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Amir, Aijaz, Mehboob ur Rehman, Muhammad Bilal and Ali Sher.
The spokesperson further said that the accused could be seen hitting the victim Aslam with bricks and sticks. He said that 85 people have been arrested so far.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and IG Police are themselves monitoring the police raids and operations.
Punjab police have included terrorism and serious crimes clauses in the FIR.
The process to identify and arrest the remaining accused involved in the incident is underway.
In a tweet, Punjab police said that they have submitted a preliminary report to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
“Police conducted over 120 raids at various places last night and arrested 62 suspects and nominated 33 persons while a case has also been registered against 300 unknown persons,” the tweet reads.

On the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister and IG Punjab, the police continued the covert operation throughout the night.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the killing of an individual by an angry mob in Khanewal. “The tragedy took place at Talamba town of Mian Channu near 17-Mor once again made the whole nation bow its head in shame,” Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said.
