Babar Azam urges fans to tone down ‘King’ label, stresses focus on performance

Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has urged fans to tone down the ‘King’ label, emphasizing that his priority is delivering strong performances for the team rather than titles.

Speaking to the media following Pakistan’s six-wicket victory over South Africa on Wednesday, Babar reaffirmed his commitment to strategic and positive planning every time he steps onto the field.

However, he acknowledged that he has been struggling to finish innings as strongly as he would like.

"I always go in with a positive approach, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to finish games the way I should," he admitted.

Babar also praised Agha Salman and Mohammad Rizwan for their crucial contributions, calling their performances match-winning efforts. He explained that he played according to the team's strategy and focused on executing the required game plan.

"The team had a plan, and I stuck to it. Agha and Rizwan played brilliantly today," he remarked.

Babar emphasized the importance of looking ahead rather than dwelling on past achievements.

"Whatever I have done before is in the past. Every match is a fresh challenge, and I must focus on the present and future."

He further highlighted that while victories boost team confidence, continuous evaluation of strengths and weaknesses is essential for progress.

"Every win brings confidence. They batted well, and we also had a strong start. These things help us improve, and we always discuss our good and bad moments after the match."
