SC ex-judge, LHC CJ Sheikh Azmat Saeed will be laid to rest tomorrow

Former Supreme Court judge and Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, who breathed his last after a prolonged illness in Lahore on Wednesday, will be laid to rest on February 14 (Friday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Justice Azmat Saeed’s Namaz-i-Janaza will be offered Masjid Allaho Akbar in Defence area of Lahore at 3:00 pm after Juma prayers.

According to the family, Justice Azmat Saeed had been ill for some time and was undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The former apex court judge’s passing has left a void in the legal community, with colleagues and legal experts paying tribute to his service and dedication to upholding the law.

Azmat Saeed Sheikh had served as a judge in the Supreme Court from 2012 to 2019. Before his appointment to the Supreme Court, he was the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.

Justice Azmat Saeed was part of the bench that heard the Panama Leaks case.

After completing his LLB, he began his legal career in Rawalpindi in 1978. He later moved to Lahore in 1980 and gained experience working in various law chambers before becoming an Advocate of the Lahore High Court and Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1981.

Justice Azmat Saeed was appointed a permanent judge of the Supreme Court on June 1, 2012, with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry administering oath to him.
