PM Shehbaz felicitates BNP chief Tarique Rahman on election victory
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday spoke to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman over the telephone and conveyed heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan on the historic and resounding victory of his party in the general elections.
Sharif also congratulated the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of the polls, stating that the elections reflected the democratic ideals and values of the Bangladeshi nation.
Recalling the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to work closely with the Bangladeshi leadership to strengthen mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, as well as to promote regional peace and development with full respect for each other’s sovereignty.
During their cordial conversation, the two leaders also mentioned former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and paid tribute to her distinguished services in fostering Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and her key role in bringing the people of both countries closer.
PM Sharif invited Rahman to visit Pakistan at the earliest convenience, while the BNP Chairman extended a reciprocal invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh. Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact in the coming days to work for the betterment of their peoples.
