The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has allowed to raise the K-Electric tariff from Rs1.49 to Rs4.49 in different categories to bring it at par with electricity rates being charged by other electricity distribution companies in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Nepra said that the federal government had submitted a petition seeking a uniformity of the electricity tariff of the K-Electric with other Discos operating across the country.

The Nepra has allowed an increase of Rs3.30/unit in the rate of Discos under the head of fourth quarterly adjustment for FY2021-22, the statement said.

It added that the federal government also petitioned for same rate hike for the K-Electric.

The Nepra explained that this adjustment would be charged on units consumed in Oct-Dec 2022 and January 2023.

It added that the fuel adjustment would be charged for four months from January-April 2023.

The tariff hike for K-Electric would be in the region between Rs1.49 and Rs4.45 in different categories.
