FIA registers case against private airline over ‘tax evasion’

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday registered a case against a Pakistani private airline Shaheen Air on the charges of causing loss to national exchequer.
The case was registered with FIA Corporate Crime Circle Cell Karachi on the complaint of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
According to the initial findings, the case was registered against Shaheen Air due to nonpayment of flight operation charges.
Shaheen Air is defaulter of more than Rs1.4 billion of CAA with regard to various charges.
FIA arrested an accused and started the further investigations to probe the matter.
FIA registered a case against nine accused including Ahsan Khalid Shehbai, Khalid Muhammad Shehbai, Kashif Muhammad Shehbai, Sabrina Kalsoom Shehbai, Javed Kareem Shehbai, Jannat Shehbai, Yawar Mehmood Shehbai and Rashida Yasin.
Shaheen Air is a private Pakistani airline with its head office at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi and was founded by the Shehbai family.
