For the first time in the history of traffic police, female traffic officers have been appointed in the city of Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

In the beginning stages of this new initiative, female traffic officers will be deployed in the areas of Shahrah-e-Faisal and Clifton.

Moreover in the locality of Shahrah-e-Faisal, female traffic police can be seen sitting on motorcycles while they carry on with their duties of the day.

In the initial phase, female traffic constables are required to keep a check on the traffic situation whereas their responsibilities are dispersed from Metropole Chowk to the Airport.

However female traffic officers have yet not been given the liberty to issue challans.
