Railways to launch dining cars and kitchen services on major trains

In a welcome development for railway passengers, Pakistan Railways has announced the launch of dining cars, kitchen portions, and complimentary services across select trains to enhance the onboard travel experience, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to details, Pakistan Express, Karachi Express, and Millat Express will soon be equipped with dedicated dining cars, while Jaffar Express will get a kitchen facility. 

Furthermore, railcars operating between Lahore and Rawalpindi, including Subak Raftar, Subak Kharam, Islamabad Express, and Rawal Express, will offer complimentary services to passengers.

To implement these upgrades efficiently, the Railway Headquarters has issued a tender to outsource catering services. Interested firms and service providers are invited to submit technical and financial bids by August 5, 2025.

This initiative marks a significant step toward modernising Pakistan's railway system, aiming to provide a comfortable and quality experience for long-distance and intercity travellers.
