House collapse in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaves 8 dead after heavy rain
At least eight people, including five women and three children, were killed after a house collapsed due to heavy rainfall in the Malgin area of Tehsil Lachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hospital sources said on Monday.
The house caved in as torrential rains lashed the area, trapping several members of the family beneath the debris.
Hospital sources confirmed that the death toll had risen to eight, comprising five women and three children.
Several others were injured in the incident. Four of the injured, who are reported to be in critical condition, have been shifted to Peshawar for specialised medical treatment.
Rescue teams and local residents rushed to the scene soon after the collapse and launched an operation to recover victims from the rubble.
The incident comes amid heavy monsoon rains in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, raising concerns over the safety of vulnerable homes and increasing the risk of rain-related accidents in hilly and low-lying areas.
Authorities are continuing rescue and relief efforts while monitoring the weather situation closely.
