Husband shoots wife after dispute over Rs100 in Khanpur

A mother of three was critically injured after her husband allegedly tortured and shot her following a dispute over curd worth Rs100 in Khanpur, police and the victim said.

The injured woman, identified as Iram Shahzadi, was shifted to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi, where she was receiving treatment for bullet wounds and other injuries.

Shahzadi, a resident of Dhok Kala Khan in Rawalpindi, was married to Ashfaq Ahmed in the Faqirabad area of Khanpur.

She alleged that a dispute began after she ordered curd worth Rs100 and that her husband subjected her to severe physical violence before opening fire on her.

Visible marks of violence and bullet wounds were present on her body.

The woman also alleged that she had been subjected to violence by her in-laws.

Her condition was reported to be critical, and she appealed to senior authorities to ensure that those responsible were arrested and prosecuted.

Khanpur police said Ahmed fled after the incident.

A case has been registered, and raids are being conducted to arrest the suspect, police said.

Authorities said further investigation was underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether other family members were involved.
