Rajiv shared that Amanullah Khan's influence on Punjabi comedy is immense, although many people who are unfamiliar with the language may not fully realize the impact he had on the genre.
Recalling his Lahore visit, Rajiv said that unlike cinemas in India, where audiences decide which film to watch after seeing movie posters, theatre productions in Pakistan attracted massive crowds purely on the strength of Amanullah Khan's popularity.
He revealed that he purchased a ticket worth Rs1,500 to watch one of Amanullah Khan's plays in 2005 a significant amount at the time. The theatre was completely packed, and organizers even handed him a chair, asking him to sit wherever space was available because the venue had reached full capacity.
Rajiv also narrated one of Amanullah Khan's most memorable stage moments. He explained that despite portraying a wealthy character in the play, Amanullah humorously pointed out that his simple appearance hardly matched that of a rich man. In the middle of the performance, he jokingly removed his coat and quipped that he no longer wished to play the wealthy character.
According to Rajiv, the audience immediately pleaded with him to put the coat back on, demonstrating the unique bond Amanullah shared with his fans and his incredible ability to create spontaneous comedy through audience interaction.
