Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan has submitted his application to the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan regarding the dismissal of PTI reference against its dissident members, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Imran’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry filed his petition in the apex court on Monday.
In his petition, the PTI chief challenged the ECP decision which threw out the party’s reference against its renegade members of the National Assembly on May 11. He beseeched the court to void the election commission decision saying the ECP verdict was in contravention of the constitution.
The petition stated that the commission had got all the proofs it needed to take action against the rebel MNAs but still it rejected the reference against them on the grounds of non-availability of proof.
The petition further said that the ECP should give a verdict against horse-trading and floor crossing for the protection of democracy.
Imran Khan made new Opposition Leader in National Assembly who is a PTI dissident, respondent in the case.
