Names of seven Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senators whose votes were rejected during the election for the seat of Senate chairman held on March 12 (Friday) have come to light, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Quoting sources, the TV channel reported that according to the report submitted to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, these senators have said that when they asked the Senate staff the way of casting vote, they told them to stamp on candidate’s name.
The sources further said these senators had also submitted an affidavit to the party’s high command in which they dispelled the impression that any bad intent was involved in their stamping on the candidate’s name.
They further said that their innocence could be gauged from the fact that they had themselves made public what led to their act which ultimately resulted in their votes going waste.
Their version is seconded by those present in the House at the time of voting who said that they had seen these senators talking to the Senate staff.
