Call for Pak-Uzbek collaborate in medical education  

Pakistan and Uzbekistan should collaborate in the field of medical education, research and training for the betterment of people. 

The resolve was expressed at the moot of Pak-Uzbek doctors at Tashkent, where Prof Dr Ashraf Nizami visited. 

In the vibrant tapestry of international academic exchanges, the visit of Professor Dr Ashraf Nizami stands out as a testament to the enduring bonds between educational institutions and the global community. 

Invited by the prestigious Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, named after the Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba, Dr Nizami’s tour marked by reunions, scholarly engagements, and cultural immersions.

For Prof Dr Ashraf Nizami, a distinguished orthopedic surgeon and academic, his recent visit to Tashkent after 40 years was more than just a professional engagement … it was a journey through time, reconnecting with old friends, witnessing the city’s transformation, and strengthening academic and cultural ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Upon arrival, Prof Dr Nizami was greeted with warm hospitality.

One of the most heartwarming moments of the visit was the reunion with Dr Abedin and Abbas Khan. Their meeting was a reminder of how friendships transcend time and distance. 

They shared experiences and discussed the evolution of medical sciences in their countries.

Dr Abedin, now a seasoned medical professional in Uzbekistan, spoke about the advances in orthopedic and trauma care in the country. 

Abbas Khan, who had also been part of the professional circle in Tashkent acknowledged Dr Nizami’s  contributions to the medical field and his role in fostering Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations.

Also, Dr Nizami delivered a special lecture at the Uzbekistan Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology (UzNITO). 

He shared his extensive knowledge and experience in orthopedic surgery. 

He emphasized the importance of collaboration in medical research between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, highlighting how both countries could benefit from sharing expertise, technology, and best practices. 

Students and faculty appreciated the visiting dignitary. 

The lecture ended with a lively discussion session, demonstrating the eagerness of Uzbek medical professionals to engage with Pakistani experts in the field.

Prof Dr Nizami presented a special memento to the director of UzNITO in recognition of the latter’s contributions, symbolising the growing academic and professional bonds between the two nations.

During his visit, he also toured Tashkent Medical Institute (TASHMI), a premier medical institution known for its contributions to health.
