Fans slam Jaden Smith over TikTok video flaunting $48,000 designer handbag

Actor and musician Jaden Smith, also known as son of Will Smith, has sparked a wave of online criticism after showcasing a luxury handbag worth nearly $48,000 during a video filmed at Paris Fashion Week.

The 27 year old star, who is the son of Hollywood actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, appeared in a TikTok clip shared during the Louis Vuitton show.

In the video, he proudly displayed the unusual purse while giving viewers what he described as a “Tour” of the accessory.

The statement bag, known as the Maison de Famille design, is modeled after the historic residence once owned by the brand’s founder Louis Vuitton.

The property, located in the Paris suburb of Asnières-sur-Seine, served both as the designer’s home and workshop during the 19th century and is now a museum connected to the luxury fashion house.

During the video, Smith highlighted the bag’s elaborate details, pointing out miniature features such as tiny drawers, balcony style elements and decorative artwork.

The collectible piece, crafted from cowhide leather with gold tone hardware, was originally introduced in the brand’s spring summer 2023 collection by creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.

However, the clip quickly triggered backlash online. Social media users flooded the comment section with criticism, accusing the celebrity of flaunting excessive wealth and labeling the moment as tone deaf.

The reaction comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Smith’s ventures in the fashion world.

Last year, he also faced criticism after being appointed creative director for menswear at Christian Louboutin, with some critics questioning the move and calling attention to his famous family background.

Despite the controversy, Smith has continued to remain active in both fashion and entertainment circles, regularly attending major global style events and collaborating with high-profile designers.
