Hania Aamir criticizes viral trend pitting women against each other
Pakistani superstar Hania Aamir has called out a popular social media trend that compares women wearing the same outfits, urging people to stop turning fashion into a competition between women.
Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a post featuring two women dressed in the same outfit with captions asking viewers to choose “This” or “That.”
Reacting to the comparison, Hania questioned the purpose of such posts and highlighted how they often encourage unnecessary criticism and rivalry among women.
“I say this with love for humanity. I’ve always found these posts so strange. We seem to find some sort of peace in putting women down and some strange satisfaction in pitting them against one another,” she wrote in her Instagram story.
Hania further pointed out the irony behind the trend, noting that both women in the post were wearing the exact same outfit. “I mean girl, what do you mean ‘this or that’? It’s the same outfit. Maybe we can let two women wear the same outfit in peace,” she added.
Her message quickly resonated with fans online, with many praising the actress for speaking against a culture that often judges women’s appearances and encourages unhealthy comparisons.
Meanwhile, the actress recently achieved another milestone as the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) appointed her as its National Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan.
In this role, Hania Aamir will advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment, using her public influence to highlight issues affecting women and girls across the country. She will work with UN Women on initiatives promoting economic opportunities, leadership, digital inclusion, and the prevention of gender-based violence.
Hania succeeds Muniba Mazari, who previously held the honorary role until August 2025 and continues to be a global advocate for inclusion and women’s rights.
Expressing gratitude over the appointment, Hania said the role is more than just a title and represents a commitment to amplify the voices of women and girls while promoting a more equal and inclusive society.
