Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: New leak points finger at battery capacity

A new leak indicates that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 may not receive the battery upgrade many users had been anticipating.

According to reports from the blog GalaxyClub, alleged specifications linked to the device suggest that the next model in Samsung’s clamshell-style foldable phone line will retain a battery similar to that of its predecessor.

The leak connects two batteries, labelled EB-BF776 and EB-BF777, to the Z Flip 8 model. Analysis by Android Authority indicates that the combined rated capacity of these batteries would be around 4,174mAh, effectively the same capacity used in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7.

In recent years, several Android smartphone manufacturers have begun introducing silicon-carbon battery technology, which allows for higher energy density and longer battery life. However, the Galaxy Z Flip series has continued to rely on a more conventional battery design, typically offering around 4,300mAh capacity.

This remains slightly smaller than the battery used in the larger Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which features a capacity roughly 100mAh greater.

Despite the lack of a major battery upgrade, the previous model received generally positive feedback. In an early review by Mashable, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 was praised for its smooth cover screen experience, solid performance and dependable battery life.

Reviewer Adam Doud noted that while the phone was not designed to last multiple days on a single charge, its battery performance was respectable. He added that users could extend battery life further by making frequent use of the device’s external cover screen.

Samsung has not yet officially confirmed the specifications of the Galaxy Z Flip 8, and details surrounding the device remain based on leaks and industry speculation.
